Butterfield and Hagan taken to task about wasteful spendingAugust 22, 2010 The so called "Global Transpark" has been a debacle from day one. Billions of dollars poured into an idea that has yet to produce even a small return on that investment. So what does the government do? Pour more taxpayer money into the idea. The New Bern Sun Journalhas an editorial explaining how another million came to be spent at the Transpark airport. It is a state of the art "Instrument Landing System" procured by Rep. G. K. Butterfield and Sen. Kay Hagan through the infamous pork barrel process called "earmarks." The only problem is, as the Journal points out, there are very many airplanes landing at Kinston. Ashley Woolard, who is running against Butterfield, recently said: "I do not intend to go to Washington to see how much pork I can bring back home. I intend to save every dollars we possibly can and spend what we do spend on things that are genuinely needed. The best way to produce jobs is to cut taxes and reduce regulation on businesses. Rep. Butterfield's "tax and spend" mentality has dumped $44,000 in debt on every man, woman and child in this country and it is not right what the Democrats have done to future generations. I want to help bring some sanity back to Washington." |
